We are going to use video tutorials from "Blender Guru" on Youtube, interspersed with tasks and assignments.
Donut Tutorial Level 1 Videos
Level 1 Part 1:
- Grab, Scale, Rotate in all 3 dimensions
- Pan, Zoom
Level 1 Part 2:
- Create Mesh (Torus)
- adjust to true size and low res
- proportional grabs to imperfect shape
- shade smooth
- subsurface modifier (lvl2)
Level 1 Part 3: Icing
- x-ray view with adjusted view
- select top half
- duplicate, separate, and rename
- solidify with offset to +1
Level 1 Part 4: Droopy Icing
- Uncheck view mode in solidify modifier
- Select All icing vertices (A) in Edit mode
- Subdivide
- select bottom row
- invert selection and hide interior points
- turn on snap to surface
- have both project individual elements and snap to self turned on
- G to create droops
- E (with two points) to create dribbles
Level 1 Part 5: Sculpting
- Duplicate objects and archive
- Apply modifiers
- Sculpt with Draw
- Inflate Dribble Edges
- randomize surface with draw
- G to pull drips back to new shape

- Rendered View
- adjust light
- add a plane
- parent objects
- UnSnap and move donut
- Evee vs Cycles
- Moving the Camera
- new material on the plane
- saving the render
Level 1 Part 7: Materials
- Base Color, Roughness, Subsurface color
- further light adjustment
- denoise setting for render
