OLD INSTRUCTIONSWe are going to monochrome a photo, using the program GIMP. GIMP is a free equivalent of Photoshop. While not as powerful in some respects - it is also more logically laid out in others. GIMP is an industry standard - as it is the free, open source, option that is Photoshop's main competitor. GIMP also runs on Linux operating systems (also free). I love Photoshop, but encourage all of my students to get to know GIMP as well, as Photoshop is not always a viable option depending on your circumstances.
The following Youtube video will introduce GIMP and go over how to convert a photo to a posterized image.
If you are really into stuff that's not free, you can also continue to use Photoshop.
